Local Town In The 1000 Islands

Welcome to the Towns ,Cities and Villages of the 1000 Islands. The Thousand Islands starts at the mouth of the Lake Ontario In Kingston and runs all the way down stream over 55 miles ( 89 km ) to Brockville, were the end of what is known as the 1000 Islands. In between Kingston And Brockville there is many towns and villages on and near the Saint Lawrence River.

Prescott
Prescott is located in the heart of Eastern Ontario. 1 hour from Ottawa, 1.5 hours from Montreal, 4 hours from Toronto and 2.5 hours from Syracuse. The Prescott-Ogdensburg International Bridge, connecting New York state with the province of Ontario, is located just east of Prescott.

Located in the 1000 Islands region, Brockville is accessible by road,rail and seaway. Brockville is directly situated on Highway 401 between Toronto and Montreal. Ottawa is one hour northeast of Brockville. New York Interstate 81 is 20 minute's east of Brockville.

1000 Islands Parkway

1000 Islands Parkway which meanders along the waterfront of the beautiful St. Lawrence River from Gananoque pass the base of the 1000 Islands International Bridge to Brockville, providing a beautiful view of the 1000 Islands waterfront. A bicycle path on the north side of the 1000 Islands Parkway stretches over 28 miles.

Gananoque

Gananoque is an Indian name which has been translated to mean "the place of health". Gananoque was incorporated as a village in 1864, and as a town in 1890. Gananoque is located between Brockville and Kingston, Ontario and is accessible by road and seaway.Gananoque is directly situated on Highway 401 and Hwy #2. Toronto is 174 miles West and Montreal is 169 miles East

Kingston

Located in the 1000 Islands region, Kingston is accessible by road, air, rail and seaway.Kingston is directly situated on Highway 401 between Toronto and Montreal. Toronto is 267 km (166 miles) Montreal 290 km (180miles) Ottawa 190 km (118 miles) Syracuse N.Y. 217km (135 miles) Kingston, known as the "Limestone City" was once the capital of Canada. The first Canadian Parliament opened in Kingston in 1841. Then moved to Montreal in 1844 and later to Ottawa in 1867.The population of Kingston is 140,000.

Wellesley Island

Wellesley Island, just west of Alexandria Bay, offers more than 8,000 acres to explore accessible via the Thousand Islands Bridge. Wellesley Island State Park at the western edge of the island offers 429 campsites, boat launch sites, a nature center, camping facilities, beach, and visitors’ center. There are also three golf courses on the island.
